Sankeys festive shows and brand new Solomun date Sat 29th Dec

Sankeys enters the last days of 2012 with a very festive spring in its step. After celebrating its 18th anniversary in Manchester this summer and a brilliant 2nd season in Ibiza, David Vincent’s vision continues to spectacularly evolve. For those seeking a warmer climate to see in the New Year, don’t forget Sankeys are making their Ibiza NYE debut with Tobi Neumann and many more. And there’s a run of brilliant festive shows to savour in Manchester, as the global institution can also now announce a brand new date with Solomun on Saturday 29th December, completing the final events of 2012.
With revered Diynamic label boss Solomun capping off a major year, including his wildly successful Neon Nights season at Sankeys Ibiza and being crowed Mixmag’s DJ Of The Year, there are now two Xmas With Solomun shows on Friday 28th and Sat 29th December. Seeing his imprint, stable of DJs and live acts and his own peerless DJing and production’s meteoric rise, Solomun has been one of the most in-demand artists of 2012, crafting truly sublime parties each week at Sankeys Ibiza in Playa d’en Bossa; it’s really only fitting, then, that Sankeys bring him to Manchester twice for these unique shows, to really give everyone something to celebrate this Xmas.
So, rewinding just a few days earlier, before all the gluttony begins, Sankeysmas ushers in the festive spirit in fine style on Saturday 22nd December. Italian beat-smith Davide Squillace headlines, with Pan Pot, Miguel Campbell and Darius Syrossian all on hand for this one too. Then it’s time to work off those accumulated Xmas calories. Boxing Day sees the Apollonia trio of Dyed Soundorom, Dan Ghenacia and Shonky at Sankeys. Sharing the same musical roots, tastes and creative vision, Apollonia is a natural, if not inevitable progression for the trio, who have performed outstanding sets together so far at Fabric, DC10, Panorama Bar and more, creating epic deep house and techno journeys.
On Thursday 27th, following the parties throughout 2012, marking the 30th Anniversary of FAC 51 and the release of “Hacienda 30: The Album”, FAC 51 The Hacienda are proud to announce their final show of the year at Sankeys. Graeme Park take sole charge of Sankeys’ Basement for a unique seven hour set, whilst upstairs in Spektrum, house icon Marshall Jefferson takes the helm.

Friday 28th and Sat 29th are all about one man, and one man only – Solomun.

Then finally it’s Sankeys NYE. This is it. The final show of the year, and who better to lead the club into 2013 than two of its brightest stars, The Martinez Brothers? In 2006 a single night in New York City helped sow the seeds for The Martinez Brothers’ ascent. The pair were invited by Dennis Ferrer to play at one of the city's longest serving and foremost venues, Shelter. Not only did they smash the party, they got to hear a DJing hero in Timmy Regisford, who played a rough version of their breakthrough track "My Rendition." Since that momentous night, the guys have risen to global stardom, 2012 seeing them everywhere from DC-10 to - of course - Sankeys, winning fans and plaudits the world over for their beautifully honed style. Catch the guys at Sankeys’ NYE party with Phil Weeks and Richy Ahmed, bringing in the New Year at the epoch-defining club.

The Acid Mill Rave All Nighter - Sat 8th Dec

We wouldn’t be anywhere without acid house. Put simply, the machine music born in the mid to late eighties breathed new into club culture and laid the groundwork for the electronic heartbeat which currently serves the global music industry. Nowhere was this impact felt stronger than in the UK, and in particular Manchester, and with Sankeys’ existence based on the pioneer’s pursuits they show their enduring respect to, for example the formative days of the iconic Hacienda. This is exemplified by this weekend’s Saturday session, with the Acid Mill Rave All Nighter and a totemic figure right from its origins.

Headlining is none other than acid house and Manchester music royalty A Guy Called Gerald. As one third of 808 State he laid down some of the most evocative and important music that characterised the period for their first album ‘Newbuild’ and the timeless ‘Pacific,’ but it would be his solo work that would truly encapsulate his genius. The lazy laconic gurgle of ‘Voodoo Ray’ defined a generation, a languid masterpiece which crystallised everything great about dance music not only then, but equally now.

Gerald would then go onto become a founding figure in the emergence of drum and bass through his productions and seminal imprint Juice Box records, before then creating elegant Detroit tinged-techno and song-focused music from his new base in New York in the late nineties. Rightfully heralded as one of the icons of electronic music as we know it, he is still a relentless bastion of all things feted in the genre, a true legend.

Joining Gerald on his voyage through the ages will be a selection of residents and guests paying their own form of homage to the essence of acid. These include Jozef K, who for the very first time teams up with production cohort Winter Son from Ghosting Season, playing a live 808 set. “We can’t wait to unleash this at the club on the 8th,” Jozef explains. “Acid house is still so relevant today, and inspired so many DJs and live acts through the last couple of decades, including us. Tom and I will be using the 808 to full effect, so everyone best be getting ready to rave!” Jozef is an artist whose rapid rise into Sankeys folklore shows no signs of relenting. Support comes from Willow, Jack Barton and H. Hammond.

The Suol showcase with Daniel Bortz - Sat 1st December

On Saturday 1st December the music shifts to a more subtle and intricate beat as a Suol showcase takes over Sankeys. The record label party will be headlined by a turn from melodic techno doyen Daniel Bortz, whose releases on the likes of Crosstown Rebels, Pasta Musik, Get Physical and of course Suol has seen him earmarked as one of the more exciting figures in the deeper spectrum of European electronic music.

Long-time Martin Eyerer collaborator Chopstick will also be in attendance, this time as part of his new collaboration involving JohnJon which has also seen widespread acclaim. Support comes in the shape of H2, Angus Jefford, Perry Louis and more.

The Martinez Brothers Beats in Space mix

They are the epitome of cool and one of the world’s most dynamic DJ duos – and, even more rarely, are brothers too. After a quite brilliant year (so far), which includes stints at DC-10, riotous globe-trotting shows and becoming the darlings of Sankeys (as anyone at Spektrum on Friday will testify), The Martinez Brothers are next back at the club this NYE. Don’t. Miss This.
They have also just released a mix on super-cool Beats in Space, Tim Sweeney’s revered radio show a global phenomenon in itself, welcoming these two prized spinners. You can check it out here.

Fatboy Slim at Sankeys

We're very excited to be welcoming Fatboy Slim to the club this Friday. Quite simply Norman Cook is a superstar, and a thoroughly British one at that. His part in the chart topping groups The Housemartins, Beats International and Freak Power would have made him a pub quiz staple, but Cook’s positioning at the emergence of big beat in the mid nineties meant he was destined for much stronger success than that. He married the chart topping prowess of his now world famous Fatboy Slim persona with a DJing knack equally as revered, turning the art of playing other people’s records into a stadium defining process.

Still one of the true superstar DJs left on the planet (check the documentary for his monolithic Big Beach Bootique event that still takes over Brighton’s shores), Fatboy’s crowd pleasing prowess marks him out as a true icon. He will be bringing a special ensemble of guests to ensure that Manchester feels the force of a true lord of the dance. And don’t forget Fatboy Slim Live: At The Big Beach Bootique – screened at over 600 cinemas worldwide this summer – is to be made available on DVD from November 5th on Southern Fried.

Sankeys this weekend...

The first weekend in October has a twinning feel to it – pairing the might of the UK one evening with our transatlantic counterparts taking the focus 24 hours later. It’s also an opportunity for the legendary party of the past to square up to everything that represents the brilliance of Sankeys in the here and now. Naturally each event is something of a classic in the making, spreading the musical palette to its far-reaching limits with a smorgasbord of stellar DJs all in starring roles.

Tribal Sessions kicks things off on the Friday. The legendary Sankeys institution still retains its driving ethos, a mantra etched into DJs and clubbers alike, with the pursuit of brilliance a principal Tribal Sessions continues to attain. The headliner for this TS instalment brings James Zabiela to the helm. The Dalek obsessed beatsmith has become synonymous with technique focused DJ sets which blow the conceptions of what you can do with technology out of the water. But they do so by presenting the music first and foremost in jaw-breaking fashion; never is this a DJ who lets technical prowess override the aural component of dance music at its finest, and for this James is globally revered.

He’s joined by Glaswegian house aficionados Silicone Soul, the duo still one of the genre’s most potent forces and as sure-fire a sign of peerless quality as their leading label, Soma. The new school is represented by James Teej and Droog who add a cosmopolitan zest to the traditional formula of ballsy dance music that has made Tribal Sessions such a vaunted and revered institution, one which Sankeys welcomes back with open arms.

If Friday is about a thoroughly Manchester ingrained institution, Saturday refers to connecting with a spiritual partner in the city of Detroit. Ever since the North West was engulfed by Northern Soul fever from the early 70s, the mid west metropolis has had a grip on Manchester’s musical hearts. What followed in the next decade was a connection to the city’s techno output and that of the infamous Belleville three, whose raw computer driven sounds entranced the early pioneers of acid house that Sankeys and dance music as a whole remains so indebted to.

The starlets headlining this showcase are part of the new school that continue to profit from that legacy, headed up by Omar S. Pursuing a more housier template than his forefathers, he arguably owes more to fellow city dwellers Theo Parrish and the funkier strains of Carl Craig. The raw soul infused ethic of Kyle Hall, with his delightfully rough and ready template, offers the perfect motor city counterpart to gift the party that grittier edge. Sankeys own Jozef K completes the bill, playing a double whammy at the club.

Coolio in da Sankeys house this Friday!

Sankeys bring the weekend with something of a bang, headlined by none other than hip-hop legend Coolio. Springing out of fellow west coast rapper WC’s clique The Maaaad Circle, Coolio became a bona fide star himself when he flipped the sample of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Pastime Paradise’ for the soundtrack to the Michelle Pfieffer starring Dangerous Minds in 1995.

The result was the monolithic ‘Gangster’s Paradise’ an international smash hit that paved the way for Coolio’s light hearted and fun loving take on a sound that had become synonymous with guns and drug culture. Upstairs, there are further guests from Sankeys’ own firebrand party Continue, including Italian techno fiend Giorgio Gigli and recent RA podcast contributor and bass connoisseur DJ Rum.

Kaluki celebrates 6th anniversary with Solomun - Sat 8th Sep

In swings one of the year’s hottest names for the Kaluki 6th anniversary celebrations on Sat 8th Sep, with a man who has been one of the dominant forces in Sankeys Ibiza’s radiant successes with his Diynamic Neon parties: Solomun. Solomun was already a big deal in house music circles prior to 2011, having recorded on a slew of the most respected imprints knocking about, Freerange, Buzzin’ Fly, Dessous, Classic, Compost and Get Physical among them, as well as his own Diynamic imprint.

Last year saw him come into his own however, the beyond amazing re-rub of Noir and Haze’s ‘Around’ endearing him to DJs of every discipline and a new template being etched of pitched down sweet and sensual grooves. Tonight he dominates Sankeys for a monstrous six hour set, sure to deliver the kind of sweat drenched workout that only men of his sterling discipline are capable of. Kaluki’s founder and resident Ellesse supports, helping to celebrate the wildly successful party he created, reaching 6 amazing years old.

August bank holiday weekend at Sankeys...

As the Summer Bank Holiday season swings to an end, Sankeys flips the musical styling for one weekend to invert their usual Friday/Saturday split. This time the deepness and musical ingenuity that normally characterises Saturday’s dalliances hogs the limelight the day before, with Friday’s bolshy, escapist and in-yer-face blissful abandon getting switched to the main weekend slot. Both benefit from a rather delectable ensemble of talent assembled for Continue and The Manchester Pride Dance Party.

As part of the summer’s 18th anniversary celebrations at Sankeys, Continue has added further gravitas to the club’s pantheon of in-house parties. Friday’s instalment sees legendary DJ Pete making his Manchester debut. The Berlin native has been one of the iconic figures in the city’s mesmerising take on global electronic trends, his dub infused techno under the Substance alias adding a lasting legacy to the genre worthy of stalwarts such as Basic Channel. Melodic techno provocateur James Holden, himself a fearless exponent of leftfield electronica, gifts an extra sense of beat led swagger.

The support cast then ripples elegantly through the more esoteric elements of dance music, with Danish sensation Kolsch adding a live element, Instra:mental member Boddika, Cosmin TRG (who’s recent efforts on Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons imprint have been nothing short of inspirational) and Mancunian dream-laden beatsmith Synkro the final guest.

Saturday then pumps its fist to the sound of Federation. The Leeds based party has become something of a Sankeys Bank Holiday tradition, their effusive take on vocal led house, foot-stomping electro and filthy beats perfect for the epic showcases that can only take place when the weekend plunders another day from the working schedules.

The August Bank Holiday this year also marks the end of Manchester’s week long Pride celebrations, and with the city one of the finest in Europe for its open and inclusive attitudes towards everyone regardless of race, sexual orientation or gender, Sankeys and federation will be offering the perfect riposte for everyone to celebrate the rainbow culture.

Sankeys Friday 17th & Saturday 18th August

This weekend is all about doffing the caps to the people who bring the music to us all. Whilst DJs are undoubted gatekeepers in the musical world the job of the record label, many helmed by DJs themselves, represents a crucial cog in the process of delivering us music. So this weekend brings two of the most influential in the genre down to Manchester, complete with the artists - and in once case the lynchpin - behind the label.

Friday night sees Turbo recordings in the building. The brainchild of legendary Canadian DJ and producer Tiga, the label has been one of the most revered and iconic imprints in modern dance music, influential in the development of electro clash and pushing bass-soaked techno forward. Tiga, fresh from the honour of producing the hundredth instalment of Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels instalment, naturally headlines the event.

Joining him will be Duke Dumont, the spinner whose trusty re-rubs of pop mainstays like Lily Allen, Bat For Lashes and the Mystery Jets dovetails with a reverential status as global selector par excellence, not least with Fabric where he has built up a fervent partnership. Fresh faced Scottish duo Clouds complete the bill. Up in Spektrum, bass-driven beat masters Chow Down and Dark Sky take over for the night.

The limelight the following evening falls on the huge presence of Cadenza, Luciano’s scintillating emporium of house and techno. Much like the master’s DJ sets, the music released is a slew of tracks permeated by the European and Latin influences that ground many of the artists involved. This is persistently emblematic with German groove shaman Reboot who headlines the show with his blend of acerbic drums and off kilter rhythms.

He’s joined by Detroit legend Kenny Larkin, the Motor City native currently enjoying a revitalisation at the pinnacle of the music’s zeitgeist. Andrea Olivia also represents the Swiss label, whilst some home-grown talent in the shape of Sankeys’ resident and Kaluki promoter Ellesse gives Manchester its own spotlight.

Jozef K talks about Continue...

Continue is everything I wanted from a night, (think I've started up 4 or 5 before this I've lost count!), and now we’ve finally cracked it I think!

There's an amazing crowd, which make the night what it is, everyone is really into their stuff and always up for a party.

Having such a crowd enables us to have a music policy of anything goes (within reason!), looking at our past bookings we usually lean toward a bass/dub techno vibe but there’s been a lot of exceptions, these are just a sample of what's in my head right now:

Tin Man playing his unique acid sound live (debuting it even before playing at the ever innovative Berghain we was proud of that!)

John Heckle playing across the board with a Roland 707, I still don't know what the fuck he was doing with it! I asked him to explain about 8 times, some thing about live samples or sommat!

The Smallville showcase with Moomin, Smallpeople and Juniper was really special too, basically just played deep house on vinyl all night!

So, there are some restrictions, we are open to anything and I think this makes the night what it is, just good tunes basically!

A highlight show to be honest was the last one, with Benjamin Damage and Doc Daneeka, it was a really 'Continue' booking and the music worked really well in terms of progression. With a 2 hour 115bpm warm up from Oliver Byrne, through to some dick head Jozef K who slightly ruined it! Before Daneeka and Damage wrecked it with their house techno/garage vibe, hard to describe seriously! Basically they just rinsed it, they played that new Bashmore one... went off! (personally wasn't too keen on the broomstick song though ;-])!
The legend that is Conor Faktion ended it playing a quality techno set that only years of DJing and being involved in music could be bring. I believe he played Richie Hawtin - Minus / Orange toward the end...

Long live Continue!

Continue continues to grow at Sankeys…

After wildly febrile scenes at Sankeys on Friday, with Benjamin Damage and Doc Daneeka headlining another sold out crowd, Continue is evolving into one of the UK’s best kept secrets. But for how long?
Sankeys has excellent pedigree with its in-house parties. Tribal Sessions, The Redlight and, more recently, Kaluki to name but three who have helped shaped the club’s growth during the last decade and beyond; Continue is the upstart though which has crept into the city’s mindset, bringing in a host of cutting-edge names from the techno spectrum. Whilst flitting between Spektrum and the Basement, Continue has gathered momentum and respect, principally from the DJs who play there and a crowd craving something new which they have found at occasional sessions dotted through the calendar.
As part of the Sankeys’ story, Continue is a chapter which has only just begun.
You can catch the next instalment on the August Bank Holiday Friday party, with Hardwax’s DJ Pete headlining with James Holden, Kolsch, Boddika and more.

Sankeys next weekend - Just Skank and Kaluki

Sankeys serves up two cracking parties next weekend in Manchester.
The Friday sees a completely free entrance party showcasing the glorious talents of Manchester’s bass music scene. Rammed to the rafters with the heroes of the Mancunian music scene, the ideology rests with Sankeys giving something back to the clubbing fraternity which is such an important component of its longevity and success not only within the region, but on the global clubbing scale.

That vibe is channelled in a different manifesto with Kaluki’s hark back to the acid house era with a vinyl only evening on Saturday. Eschewing anything that wasn’t a staple of the aural aesthetic they’ve simply utilised a decks and mixer showcase; with all this firmly set on a stage. If that wasn’t enough a fancy dress theme, tied inextricably to acid house, is encouraged for everyone wanting to come down to the club.

Continue this Friday at Sankeys...

Lando Kal

Continue is one of Sankeys’ defining sessions of recent time which embodies its ethos right to the core, bringing in a stream of super-hot new names who are making huge waves in techno and future garage. Heading the bill is Lando Kal, the similarities name wise to the gun slinging Star Wars politician evident in the sci-fi garage melodies and textures dripping from the releases he has produced for Scuba’s Hotflush Recordings. The night also includes Edit Select, Damu [live], Irfan Rainy, Jozef K and many more taking over the legendary club.

Sankeys announce 18th anniversary this summer...

We have announced our huge 18th anniversary parties for this summer, starting in July and running through into September. Check the new flyer below xxx

Sankeys this weekend...

The final weekend of May sees Sankeys saddle up with to two very different lynchpins of house music for another tour de force of contrast. With summer imminently around the corner and Sankeys about to embark on its second season in the Balearics, the focus closer to home also radiates of pure sunshine, with a DJ famed for his glorious transmission of feel-good vibes on the Friday and a set of Ibizan underground talismans the following day.

Friday is about one man and one man alone; Riva Starr. One of dance music’s chameleons, the ability to shift between differing spheres of dance music has marked Riva out as one of the leading lights within modern dance music with lofty comparisons often made, and justifiably so, to the original master Pete Tong. It’s not difficult to understand why; he manages to retain the underground vibes and values whilst cavorting with the more accessible strains of dance, all the while rapidly becoming the go to guy for radiating happiness through music.

He’s become one of the most important components of the WMC, and his recent Bateria Fantastica album on Defected was proof of his undeniable knack of delivering the finest in four-four grooves. Touted as ‘proper’ house music by everyone from Carl Cox to DJ Sneak (the latter having one or two things to say on the use of that word in recent times), he remains a true thoroughbred in a crowded ensemble of stars.

One day later and Sankeys will be madness; Pandemonium in fact. DC10’s Friday night institution has been at the centre of Ibiza showing that the weekend need not be the quietest segment of the week and proof that the club itself has a life beyond its glorious centre piece, Monday’s Circo Loco. 2011 saw them initiate a glut of Sankeys friendly bastions of house at their club, Dyed Soundorom, Kerri Chandler and Dan Ghenaica among the savvy jocks selected to bring some of the arcane madness DC10 has typified to a Friday in Ibiza.

It’s one of the pioneering forces behind Circo Loco that has been at the heartbeat of it all and the starlet who takes centre stage at Sankeys for the evening; Tania Vulcano. A firm fixture at Sankeys for nearly a decade (they were one of the first to recognise her glorious talents), she is joined by fellow Pandemonium residents DJ Qu and Garagem. Expect rawer than raw grooves direct form the underground, peppered with 90s house manoeuvres and jacking, visceral techno.

Sankeys next weekend...

Sankeys sails further into the future with another double helping of dance music to entice your ears throughout May. As ever it retains the perfect snapshot of contrast within club land, with Friday’s soiree looking longingly into the past whilst Saturday resounds to a more modern approach, still firmly rooted in the aesthetic and values which gift electronic music its rich heritage.

On Friday 18th May Sankeys will be going Retro. Now over a decade old, Paul Taylor’s Retro remains the perfect opportunity to reminisce. Cavorting through every major facet of dance music since the British became embroiled in the sound during the second summer of love, this is where everyone young or old goes to relive, revisit or simply have revealed the rich and varied electronic fingerprint music has indelibly left on our hearts.

Paul’s extended sets fly through classic Chicago house, debonair Detroit Techno, old school breaks and hardcore and allow the shards of rave to come shining through. Each and everyone represents a journey through the halcyon period of dance with lashings of vocals, rhythms and classics all segued together to create a sonorous explosion of timeless music.

Fuse soundtrack Saturday 19th May, their brand of hypnotic funk perfect for the Sankeys focus on underground dance music. Fuse has been built on the rich heritage and history of London’s afterhours scene, eschewing the usual weekend histrionics for a selection of daytime parties on the Sunday that focus more on slow building sets than superstar DJs. Think dubby house, swinging funk and shimmering slo-mo techno all filtering through the speakers.

Such has been the rapid rate of expansion that last summer saw their Ibizan adventures extend to three of the most heralded clubs on the island, Ushuaia, DC10 and of course, Sankeys. Here they are welcomed to show what they can do on home soil, residents Enzo Siragusa and Zito charged with the task of gifting Manchester their brand of sophisticated grooves and razor edged beats, with his Fuse brand dropping into Sankeys Ibiza for select dates during the forthcoming summer season; check out www.sankeysibiza.info

Sankeys next weekend...

April swings to a close with yet another complete corker of a showcase in Ancoats. One of the most influential and diverse djing duos in dance music enter the club on the Friday and the following day sees a continuation of Saturday’s mandate of soul-drenched house and techno. It’s another weekend of superlative grooves and shuffling beats; Sankeys continues to be the benchmark for Mancunian hedonism and 2012 is shaping up to be the club’s biggest year to date.

First up on the Friday is a Belgian import which puts beer, chocolate and films concerning the escapades of notable Irish actors and midgets in the shade: 2manydjs. Since redefining the art of djing at the start of the century, the Dewaele brothers have now gone onto conquer the globe, adding an undeniable ethic of genre bending to what was previously a pretty staid environment in main rooms of clubs across the planet. Beyond eclectic, they showcased that electronic dance music could be fun, and also left it to one side briefly in the name of combining the audacious with the unthinkable.

The next step was conquering the world with their huge Soulwax band project, gifting a savvy remix policy to the great and good of the music world (check their current wig out of Arcade Fire’s ‘Sprawl’ as a case in point) and headlining festivals and discotheques the length and breadth of the planet. Each Sankeys soiree they have been at the controls for has been etched indelibly in history, this looks set to be equally as evocative in the Ancoats electronic canon.

And if Friday is all about one artist, Saturday instead gloriously holds its arms out smugly with a mighty ensemble. Top of the bill is UK house hero Danny Daze, a man whose undeniable sex driven funk has been at the forefront of a glut of the most reputable DJs sets for a hot minute. Residing from Miami, his combination of pulsating synth lines and effervescent Detroit influenced techno has been pone of the revelations of the past few years. London badman and Hot Creations stalwart Alexis Raphael goes toe to toe with him in the basement.

Treehouse get hold of Spektrum and in the process invite the live legend Henrik Schwarz on board for his sumptuous drawn out soul. The Innervisions leviathan remains one of the most potent draws in modern electronica, effortlessly combining raw soul and emotion with the machine ethic to create a beguiling template that is equal parts organic and electronic, a true paradox of sound. The rest of the bill combines the talents of prolific producer Vakula, a huge Ukrainian talent whose Detroit and Chicago techno and house-influenced sounds are winning him many fans, along with Willow, Us & Them and Sankeys’ own Jozef K. Jozef has just been added to the bill at this September’s Dimensions festival in Croatia.

Continue - Smallville Records Showcase – Sat May 26th

Continue shift the template a little with this Smallville showcase on Sat 26th May. The Hamburg-based label is sizzling hot right now, and is a purveyor of all things deep.

Label heads Smallpeople are Julius Steinhoff and Just von Ahlefeld aka Dionne; their sets feature deep house, Detroit techno and some Chicago flavours, and they have proved themselves as the toast of the underground. Fellow label cohort Moomin and his seminal breakout album, The Story About You, helped set him apart from the crowd. It became the year’s definitive underground album, with glowing reviews and a noticeable presence on many tastemaker end-of-year lists in 2011.

Manchester club night Me and You also features at this special Continue: Signed to both Underground Quality and Ominira, Dan Mumberson makes up one half of production duo Juniper. Mumberson has been resident DJ since the collective were established in 2008.

Finally Sankeys own resident and Continue stalwart Jozef K stars. He has just been booked to play the new Dimensions festival in the summer, and you can check out how talented this new young star is here: http://soundcloud.com/jozef-k/bicep-drippin-jozef-k-epicurean-remix

Easter at Sankeys...

Whilst Easter might be about gorging oneself on chocolate eggs, at Sankeys it’s all about a four-night extended weekend celebrating the diversity of electronic music. The incentive of an extra day off work is enough to get anyone hot under the collar, and throw in a second and it really is party time. So with Easter bringing about the first of four long weekends in 2012, including everything from the Queen’s Jubilee to the annual end of August bash, Sankeys responds with a chocker block session of four glorious club nights.
